How Much Does Tattoo Removal Cost in Tenerife?
Complete Price Guide 2026 — Picosecond Laser in Playa de Las Américas
Published October 2026 · 5 min read
Thinking about tattoo removal in Tenerife? Whether you're on holiday or living on the island, your first question is probably the cost. In this guide we explain the real price, what affects it, and what to expect from the picosecond laser process at Lucifer Tattoo — established in Playa de Las Américas since 1989.
What determines the cost of tattoo removal?
There is no single fixed price for removing a tattoo. The cost depends on several factors:
1. Size of the tattoo
A coin-sized tattoo needs far less laser time than a full sleeve. Prices are usually calculated per session, and the size determines how long each session takes.
2. Colours
Black ink responds best to laser. The most difficult colours to remove — light green, yellow, white — may need more sessions, increasing the total cost.
3. Ink quality and age
Amateur inks are easier to remove than professional high-density inks. Older tattoos often respond better because the ink has already partially degraded.
4. Number of sessions
This is the biggest cost factor. A small black tattoo may be gone in 4-6 sessions. A large multi-colour piece could require 10-12 or more.
How many sessions will I need?
The honest answer is: it depends, and we can only know for certain after evaluating your tattoo in person. What we can tell you with confidence:
- Small black tattoo (<5 cm): 4–6 sessions
- Medium black tattoo (5–15 cm): 6–8 sessions
- Medium colour tattoo: 8–10 sessions
- Lightening for a cover-up: 2–4 sessions usually sufficient
Sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart to allow your body time to flush out the ink particles. This timeline cannot be shortened.
Picosecond laser vs Q-Switch: why the technology matters
Not all lasers are equal. At Lucifer Tattoo we use picosecond laser — the most advanced technology available. Compared to traditional Q-Switch lasers:
- Fewer sessions needed for the same result
- Better results on difficult colours
- Lower risk of hyperpigmentation and scarring
- Faster recovery between sessions
Choosing the right technology can mean the difference between 6 and 12 sessions — which directly affects the total cost.
Can I get a tattoo removed while on holiday in Tenerife?
Yes, but with some planning. If your stay is short, you have two realistic options:
Start the process here
First session in Tenerife, continuation at home. Results are cumulative — you can continue treatment with another professional in your country.
Lightening for a cover-up
2–3 lightening sessions during your visit give your cover-up artist much more freedom with design and lighter colours.
Frequently asked questions
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
It is manageable — similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. We can apply numbing cream if needed. Most clients find it more bearable than they expected.
How long does the skin take to recover?
The first 24–48 hours there may be some redness and mild swelling. By days 3–5 the skin is back to normal. That is why we space sessions at least 4 weeks apart.
Will there be scarring?
With picosecond laser and proper aftercare, the risk of scarring is minimal. It is significantly safer than traditional Q-Switch lasers.
